Notes: The text is based on the second German edition, but the present edition includes a new Preface by the author as well as an Introduction by Lionel Robbins. The first book by a member of the Austrian school, introducing his 'regression theorem'; it was originally published in German in 1912, which edition J.M. Keynes reviewed (in The Economic Journal, September 1914) as the 'work of an acute and cultivated mind' with 'considerable merits' and '"enlightened" in the highest degree possible'.
