Shaw) to British Columbia's first chief forester, Martin Allerdale Grainger, in response to Grainger's suggestion that Lawrence should consider settling down in the province. Lawrence's response is brief and unalloyed: 'I prefer England to anything I've ever seen elsewhere' and he continues 'The R.A.F. is the pleasantest thing I've ever found to do...'
