Notes: As a response to the Iraq war, David Esslemont conceived this book using essays from 'The Hive of Ancient and Modern Literature' from 1799; he had previously drawn material - both text and the illustrations of Bewick and Luke Clennell - from the book for his 'Fall of Xenophon', with which the present title is harmonious in its design.
