Notes: His first published book of prose, a work of science fiction with the human race on the verge of extinction. The copy of the author's friend, John Mavrogordato – though without ownership inscription, the note to the half-title is in his distinctive hand. 'Mavro', literary editor and notable as a translator of Cavafy, was among the most frequent correspondents with the poet in his latter years.
