Notes: A bright copy of this interesting book, which dismantles the Nazi claim to have invigorated its population into a state of better health. Gumpert, a Jewish physician practising in Berlin, had left for America in 1936 - he was a friend of Thomas Mann, and family, amongst other things advising him on the effects of syphilis for 'Doktor Faustus' - the present work has a section on 'Venereal Disease' preceded by ones on 'Drunkenness in Germany' and 'Suicide and Lunacy'.
