Notes: A set with superb provenance, each bearing the ownership inscription of the then-current PM, Harold Wilson - the second volume with a gift inscription to him on the initial blank, 'With the best wishes of Gerard Noel, April, 1975'. It is Noel who contributes the account of Wilson's premiership in this volume - largely of his first period in the role, from 1964-70, but closing with reference to his recent victory; it is one of only a handful of chapters in either volume to be free of Wilson's own annotations (the Macmillan chapter is also in this category but Wilson's notes on this are containe...more
