Description: a couple of leaves with horizontal creases to paperstock (the sense recoverable), one leaf with small nick at head, pp. 36, 12mo, original blue wrappers printed to front, slight chipping at spine ends, faint spots and light dustsoiling to borders, a little corner-creasing and a couple of small nicks, tiny patch of paper loss towards foot of upper joint, contemporary note at head of front: 'Now at Kew Gardens in a special building', good

Notes: A scarce piece of ephemera from an important moment in the history of botanical art. North's exhibition took place during July and August of that year; it was following the success of this exhibition that 'she presented her collection to [the Royal Botanic Gardens at] Kew, for display in a gallery designed, furnished, and financed by herself' (ODNB) - a gallery that opened in 1882 (during its construction she took the advice of her friend, Charles Darwin, and travelled to Australasia via Borneo).
