Notes: Cornford's collaborator in this volume was the Russian born Esther Salaman (née Polianowsky, though the blurb and the dustjacket have it as Spolionowsky) whose novel 'The Fertile Plain' carried a dustjacket design by Cornford's son Christopher. Their selection features a number of poems from Pushkin, Lermontov, and Blok, among others - including Anna Akhmatova.
