Notes: One of the rare and spectacular large-paper copies of the Grenville Homer, an edition which rivals the Foulis edition in its scale and bibliophilic attractions. Only 25 copies were printed, and a number of these were used as presentation copies - including this one. The editors, William Wyndham, Lord Grenville, and his brother Thomas Grenville, have inscribed an initial blank 'From the Two Old Brothers ... To their excellent Friend John Frederick Earl of Cawdor, 1829' (in Thomas's hand). Tipped in are two letters, one from Lord Grenville and one from Thomas, presenting the book to Lord Cawdor ...more
