Julian Jebb, the recipient, was the grandson of Hilaire Belloc - he established himself as a journalist and TV producer, specialising in literary documentary. Tynan's book offers profiles of five personalities from the world of stage and screen, the stamping-ground he shared with Jebb - namely, Ralph Richardson, Tom Stoppard, Johnny Carson, Mel Brooks, and Louise Brooks.
