Bookseller Notes

A nice copy of an important book. Huxley's dystopian masterpiece; the first novel to consider human cloning, celebrating a utopian future whilst in truth illustrating the horror it delivers. The author wrote to Orwell suggesting that the future 'Brave New World' portrayed was more likely than that of 'Nineteen Eighty Four', 'an all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced because they love their servitude', but he was later to revise this view.

Description

1932, pp. [viii], 308, crown 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip gilt lettered and a shade faded with a tiny patch of discolouration at centre, top edge blue a little faded, few spots to edges with tail edge roughtrimmed, endpapers faintly spotted, very good
