Inscribed by the author, to a publisher: 'To Mr John Lane, from the author- Nov: 1920'A scarce work. In his Preface, Morgan mentions having sent this work to 'two prominent publishing houses', who advised him to re-send it when it was finished Lane was perhaps one of these, though Morgan instead presents the work here in its inchoate state, feeling, he explains, too separate from the period of its original conception in 1916, an effect of his service in the Great War (the book is dedicated to 'those of my regiment who have perished').Morgan, 2nd Viscount Tredegar, was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford; a Roman Catholic, he was, in his occult interests, associated with and admired by Aleister Crowley.
