Bookseller Notes

The copy of author and critic Paul Jordan Smith, with his contemporary ownership inscription. Jordan Smith is notable in this context as the author of 'A Key to the Ulysses of James Joyce', though he was generally an adherent to literature of an earlier period - an authority on Robert Burton and Sir Thomas Browne - whose scepticism regarding modernism, the initial spark if not the final conclusion of his work on Joyce (whose novel he admired), was also manifest in his founding of the hoax art movement Disumbrationism.
