Rare Book
Signed by the author to the flyleaf. Uncommon. The earliest version of this play, about inventor George Riley, was performed for television as 'A Walk on Water' in 1963, but revised by the author throughout the intervening years - its opening run at the St. Martin's Theatre preceded that of 'The Real Inspector Hound' in the same year. The dustjacket blurb quotes Richard Bryden in The Observer, saying 'If we hadn't already seen "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern" we'd be hailing "Enter a Free Man" as the liveliest dbut for years'.
