Inscribed by John Cage at the foot of the passage describing his contribution (to Marcel Duchamp's 'Discs' sequence): 'for Haup[?], John Cage'.Hans Richter's experimental film, produced by Peggy Guggenheim and Kenneth Macpherson, is a series of vignettes based around the figure of Joe, the Dream Salesman, with each of the sequences a collaboration with an impressive group of artists and musicians: Max Ernst, Fernand Lger, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, and Alexander Calder, as well as Richter himself, with music by Darius Milhaud, David Diamond, Louis Applebaum, Paul Bowles, and John Cage.
