The first printing of the third of Read's 'Collected Poems' issued by Faber twenty years apart (there was also a new edition of the 1946 edition, in 1953); though the printing statement links it to its 1946 predecessor, it includes the two subsequent published collections and the previously uncollected 'Vocal Avowals'. It is the final collection of Read's poetry published in his lifetime, and the scarcest of the three editions of verse appearing under this title.
