So stellt die Kommunikation per Internet einen wesentlichen Teil zwischenmenschlicher Interaktion dar, Medien wie TV oder Radio haben entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Meinungsbildung und Informationsbeschaffungsmoglichkeiten sind enorm angewachsen. Aber auch bzw. vor allem die Wirtschaft und einzelne Betriebe wurden durch Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien beeinflusst. Schlagworte wie soziales Netzwerk, elektronische Markte, modulare Organisation oder Kooperationsgeflechte pragen das gegenwartige Wirtschaftsleben. Weiterhin wachst der Kundeneinfluss auf angebotene Produkte und Dienstleistungen im Zuge der Verbreitung des Internets als Informationsmedium stets an und ebenso verandern sich innerbetriebliche Strukturen von klaren Hierarchien hin zu Netzwerken, in denen die Kommunikation eine entscheidende Rolle einnimmt. Der Manager gilt daher nicht mehr als Verteiler, Anweiser, Aufpasser und Fuhrer sondern eher als Mittler, Motivator, Integrator und Vorbild. "Die klassischen Grenzen der Unternehmung beginnen zu verschwimmen, sich nach innen wie nach auen zu verandern, teilweise auch aufzulosen." Die folgende Arbeit soll einen Uberblick geben, wie sich die Organisationsweisen sowie interne und externe Strukturen von Betrieben durch neue Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien wandelten, welche Bedeutung diese Technologien fur Unternehmen und welche Auswirkungen sie auf das Management haben.
