Publisher's Synopsis
The state of California is walled off from the rest of the U.S. and has not only been allowed to secede, but is split in two. Cash Parker, his wife Valerie, and best friend Roy Owens, find themselves leaders of a southern California neighborhood under surveillance by the U.S. Army. Plans to nuke the state are forestalled after a conniving Army General and a committee of renowned business leaders see the potential profits in making the state an industrial stalwart. The problem is, getting rid of hundreds of thousands of zombies. Cash, Roy and their neighbors are giving the choice of joining the military search and destroy mission, or face annihilation. Their efforts are impeded when a team member disintegrates mentally and another member is preoccupied with his share of a multi- million dollar heist. While Cash and Roy also contend with the bullying tactics of the unit's commander, they dream of getting over the wall that separates California and Arizona. With charges of insubordination looming as well as contending with traitorous neighbors back home, Roy comes up with a plan that is high-risk, but is their only hope.
