Publisher's Synopsis

Rick Watchorn, a shy young teenager, has finally made it to Alaska after convincing his church youth leader to take a youth singing group to the 49th state. Along the way, the group has experienced angry protesting native Americans, torrential rains, and slippery roads. Now that the singers are in Alaska, Rick believes that things will calm down. Little does he realize that there is more adventure in store for him. Besides trying to cope with his shy personality, Rick soon becomes a reluctant hero as he saved a beautiful young lady from drowning and he risks his life to save the entire busload of passengers from a large mudslide. His biggest worry lies in the fact that he cannot bring himself to speak to Sharon Rollins, the girl like he likes. He is hampered by his two friends, Paul and Craig, who both tease him for his infatuation. The young man is finally put into a situation where he must communicate with others, including Sharon. He soon realizes that God is working in his life in helping the young man become more socially mature. On the trip back to Colorado, he must still deal with a massive moose and a stampeding pack of elk, frightened by a huge forest fire.
