Publisher's Synopsis

Romantic drama starring Roselyn Sanchez and D.B. Sweeney as a young Puerto Rican dancer and an American doctor falling in love. Amaryllis (Sanchez) is the archetypal new arrival in New York, green, poor and totally out of her element. The recent death of her father, a great ballet dancer, has left her at odds and she seeks to surround herself with a cobbled-together family of new friends in the Big Apple. Her neighbour Miles, a graying poet professor and great romantic, inspires her but a girl needs to eat and soon our heroine is working the pole in a strip bar. It is there that Amarylis injures herself one night only to be rescued by Christian (Sweeney) a kindly and handsome doctor in the audience who very soon becomes more than a friend. The film follows the positive healing effect of Amaryllis' presence in the life of the formerly washed-up Miles and, in turn, the effect of his poetry on her attitude towards herself, giving the self-belief needed to achieve her goals on Broadway.
