A unique and previously inaccessible collection of files from the holdings of the Hesse state archives in Darmstadt, Marburg and Wiesbaden, and from the federal archives in Berlin, are published for the first time in this microfiche edition: 130 trials of Hesse citizens of the realm at the Volksgerichtshof (people's court) and 1,115 trials at the upper regional courts in Darmstadt and Cassel. The editors, leading scholars in the field of research on the National Socialist judiciary, undertook an intensive search in order to bring the files together as a whole. They now form a complete and unique body of material available for research on the National Socialist period in Hesse.
