The Symbolism of Violets

The cover is inspired by beautiful violets and their enchanting color; as they have long been a symbol of lesbian love since the days of the Sappho, the Ancient Greek poet from the Isle of Lesbos.

The connection with these little purple flowers is drawn from the words "all the violet tiaras, braided rosebuds, dill and crocus twined around your young neck" in which Sappho describes a lover wearing garlands or a crown made of violets.

Violets were also worn by Parisian lesbians to demonstrate their affection when a bouquet of violets was used in a 1926 play called "La Prisonnière" by Édouard Bourdet.

Wishing you love, luck and happiness on your special day!
