Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Twenty Years of Sugar Bounties: The Moral of the "Policy of Inaction," as Pointed in Speeches Delivered in the Debate on the Indian Countervailing Duties Act in the House of Commons, June 15th, 1899
Mr. Maclean, in seconding the Motion, also dealt largely with the Indian aspect of the case. He was, however, chiefly exercised to show that the initiative in the matter came not so much from India as from the Colonial Cifice - a side issue useful enough to raise from a purely debating standpoint, but of no real value in estimating the rights or wrongs of the policy under discussion. In the subsequent course of the Debate he was effectively punished by Mr. Chamberlain. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
