Episode 1: 'Head cases', has everyone trying to keep Lawyer Denny Crane (William Shatner), in check. Trouble is, it's not so easy when he's sleeping with the wife of one of your most important clients. Alan (James Spader), represents a young, black child allegedly refused the part in a production of 'Annie' because of her colour. In 'Still Crazy After All These Years', Alan (James Spader), comes to the aid of an ex-partner who tried to kill him, by helping her get out of a psychiatric hospital. Denny (William Shatner) learns that the case he is working on may decide his future with the firm. In 'Catch and Release', the law firm has to tread carefully when a client wants to construct a shopping mall, especially when Denny's son is the environmental officer responsible for protecting the area. 'Change of Course' finds Alan (James Spader) defending one of the firm's biggest clients from accusations of theft. Alan and Sally's friendship is tested to the limits when he asks her to help him win one of his cases.
