In 1964, sixteen-year-old Rick has to learn to cope with life after the sudden deaths of his parents. Relocated to a small town from the big city, he deals with the adjustments to life on his grandparents' farm and the stresses of a new school environment and new friends. Max is a broken down middle-aged reporter on the skids. He has one last chance to save his career, but alcohol keeps pulling him down.
