Despite the fact that teaching was made central by the Founder of Christianity both in his practice and in the Great Commission to his disciples and the further fact that many of the most notable achievements of the church through the ages have been due to the faithful exercise of this central function, modern church leaders, until very recent years, have given scant attention to the development of the princi ples and technique of religious teaching. Rapid progress has been made during the last two decades, but much pioneer work yet remains to be done.
