He meets Cassie at the tourney and the two of them develop a comfort zone to try things they historically would avoid, like dancing in public. They are ridiculously off-beat and clumsy for two athletes. Cassie gets the Kid to buy into the saying, Let's Be Bold!Cassie struggles with the choice of the road her rich family has laid out for her, or does she choose her own path risking her inheritance and connections to the family. She meets the Kid, his family, and friends at the tourney. Cassie cannot believe the difference between their warmth and informality with her being sent to a boarding school at 6. Her family are polite strangers and her schoolmates were always told to be nice to her fearing reprisal from her grandmother.For Cole, a 60+ owner of the Minnesota Twins, its about risking his team, reputation, and bankruptcy on a long shot, an 18-year old ballplayer. His baseball instincts tell him the Kid is the missing piece to jumpstart his team., despite all the media and professional ridicule, Behind the scenes, an unknown organization is doing all it can to push Cole into accepting a hostile, below market bid or face bankruptcy. His friend's advice was simply a toast, "to decisions worth making."Each traveler is surrounded by friends and family who bring a lighthearted and joyful spirit to the journeys. The road is full of surprises, trials, self-doubt, good-times and heartbreaks. What the Kid and Cassie discover is that when facing your insecurities, two hearts are stronger than one in overcoming them.The Kid's father warns him saying, that I could only raise you to deal with the world I know, you are about to enter a world I could not prepare you to live in. The Kid inadvertently disrupts the team and those around him in this new world.The Kid introduces Cassie to his family and neighbors blowing her mind at the completely different relationship between parents and children from her boarding school experience. She never imagined a childhood like the Kid experienced. Cassie also discovers that playing elite softball is very different from her boarding school league. The team and her struggle to find common ground, they love her talent but try to isolate her as an outsider on the team. Most of them are struggling financially to keep their college scholarships intact and cannot relate to her situation. She's beginning to wonder if this is the path she wants to take.
