Times are tough for the Levites who depend on tithes, and for the priests who receive their share from the Levites. King Saul's execution of eighty-five priests of Nob dried up the offerings. The whole country is in upheaval as Saul now seeks to kill his rival David, who, with his motley men, is hiding in the wilderness of Judah. Why does Saul want to kill his best fighter? It's confusing to twelve-year-old Benaiah. Even if he could somehow get out of his hometown, how would he find David? Saul and his 3,000 chosen warriors are having difficulty, so what chance does Benaiah have?
