Originally published in Summer of 1968, and then reissued the following year with the cover date amended (as here) - either version is scarce, with the V&A only in COPAC, the NLI and five more in the US. With the exception of 'Inisheer' and 'The dealing man', all of Heaney's text has been set to music. Three of the twelve short poems were included in a subsequent educational work on the Aran Islands, but the remainder receive their only appearance here.
