Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Fascination of Belgium
Little, too, has been said of the political history of the country, but since Belgium has been the home of industrial tradition, some brief account has been given of her industrial development, the rise of the merchant and craft guilds, and the growth of her beautiful towns. In connection with this I have much pleasure in recording my thanks to Professor Unwin of Manchester University, and in acknowledging my indebted ness to the many books and articles of M. Pirenne of Ghent.
