Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Codex Turnebi of Plautus
Since the discovery of the Bodleian marginalia, which are here reproduced in collotype, three finds of lesser importance have thrown additional light on the Codex Turnebi: (i) in the Bibliotheque N ationale, a transcript of the Bodleian marginalia; (2) in the Bodleian Library, Scaliger's copy of Plautus with the readings of his 'vetus codex'; (3) in the British Museum, the Burney ms. Of Plautus, a transcript of which was used along with the Codex Turnebi by the'compiler of the Bodleian marginal variants. The search for these documents and the following up of the clues they furnished has taken a good deal of time and trouble. But if the result has been to secure some measure of certainty in our knowledge of one of the three chief mss. Of Plautus, I shall be well satisfied.
