This book presents the case of the recent boom experienced by Mexico's Riviera Maya's TM hotel complex as an emblematic Caribbean destination, with a strip of 87 miles of mega resort infrastructure hidden behind the rainforest and walls on one side of a highway and invisible worker settlements on the other. The volume explores also the cruise industry, looking at so-called floating cities that are turning historical Caribbean towns into themed shopping stops.
