Publisher's Synopsis
Butch Cassidy robs a train of a Golden Buddha being sent from San Francisco to a museum in New York while going through Wyoming. After barricading the track with a tree trunk causing the train to stop he steals the statue and goes off with it n in a wagon. A storm comes along and the wagon tips over and the stature rolls down a ravine and becomes buried in the mud. He fails to recover it. He later goes to Bolivia where he is thought to have robbed a mining paymaster and was shot and killed by an army detachment, but his identity was never clearly established. When he returns to the United States he becomes aware of a mysterious black box rumored to have supernatural powers. He borrows this and with the help of one of the "Wild Bunch" and a mining engineer from Los Angeles goes looking for lost Golden Buddha.
