Beth arrives on Ras 2 to begin training with Sentar. Galen packs his house to move to Ras 2. The Ambassador goes back out on the Magellan. She returns with bad news. The Olmeri are advancing. She finally gets approval to retire and begins saying goodbye.
The Ambassador is worried about Galen. He is dying. But she hasn't told her team. She talks with President Smbarak about taking Galen for a ride around the Local Neighborhood. The High Council agrees. They take Galen for the ride of a lifetime, have lunch, and talk about old times. It's a grand trip. They got permission to move through the Sol system, but they can't stop. The Magellan is too big. Kell offers to take them to Earth on his cruiser. They go, come back, and continue on to Ras 2. This book sets up the endings for the stories. The Ambassador takes place in a world where integrity and honor matter, trust is earned, wits matter more than firepower, friends are the best, everybody gets a seat at the table, and the good guys win most of the time. It crosses generations and cultures, East and West. It's a hopeful story that reminds us of a time which never existed and a future we can only dream about. The story spans eight books that begin in the Ambassador's present, go back 30 years, and return to her present before moving forward.
