Suzonne introduces herself to a woman she has only seen from afar. The woman's scandalous reputation became the role model Suzonne credits for saving her life against the pirate. She offers the poor woman a gift.
Camille, Andre and Suzonne travel for a visit with Josephine Bonaparte's mother, Madame de La Pagerie. She entrusts Camille with a letter she has written to Josephine to be delivered to the Palace in France. Later, Camille suffers a terrible loss.
