Publisher's Synopsis

This fictionalized semi-autobiographical novel is based entirely on author's childhood as a boy cadet in Aung-san-thuria-hla-thaung military school and his nearly two year stint as a boy soldier in an infantry battalion of Burmese Northern Army in the rugged Kachin State of Burma now called Myanmar. All events depicted in the book are either based on author's own experiences or the experiences of other soldiers from his rifle battalion, then fighting the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Burmese Commnlist Party (BCP) insurgents by the Chinese border, in early 1970s.
