The primary purpose of the materials in this manual is to show the reader how accounting problems can be solved with a general purpose computer program. The program used is called Lotus 1-2-3 and in appearance it is much like the spreadsheets used by accountants. The objectives of these materials are to provide basic instruction in the use of Lotus 1-2-3 and enhance the student's understanding of the accounting subject matter through solving computer-based problems.;The first section introduces a number of computer concepts and associated vocabulary. In the second section some of the basics of operating the computer and maintaining programs are explained. The next section provides a very basic introduction to Lotus 1-2- 3 while the fourth section describes the access to and use of a tutorial problem that is on the data disk. The following section contains instructions for accessing the Lotus Tutorial. The final section contains the financial accounting problems.
