Publisher's Synopsis
Documentary on Manchester's 1980s indie rock band, The Smiths. Propelled by the songwriting partnership of Morrissey and Marr, The Smiths released four critically-acclaimed albums, as well as three compilations of non-album tracks, and carved a niche for themselves in the mainstream with their unique brand of literate guitar pop. This documentary makes use of archive performance footage and interviews, as well as contributions from journalist Paul Morley and others, to look back on the band's short-lived but hugely influential career.
