This is a guide to the plant life of the African savanna, the zone that lies mainly north of the equator in more or less a parallel band across Africa, from Senegal and Guinea in the west to the foothills of the Ethiopian highlands and western Uganda and Kenya in the east.;Intended for the interested amateur and the professional biologist, 55 of the most common and widespread plant families inhabiting this zone of seasonal tropical vegetation are identified and discussed.;To facilitate the identification of the species within these families, 700 of them are described and illustrated.
