Penicillins are a kind of antibiotic derived from Penicillium fungi. An antibiotic is a kind of medicinal drug that inhibits the increase of, or kills, bacteria.
Penicillin G (also known as benzylpenicillin) was once observed through accident in 1928. Alexander Fleming, a Scottish physician-scientist was once developing a kind of micro organism referred to as Staphylococcus Aureus on an uncovered petri dish when it grew to become contaminated with mildew spores. He discovered that the areas of micro organism close to the mildew had been dying. He remoted the substance from the mould that was once killing the micro organism and known as it penicillin.
