This study examines the cultural symbolism associated with the production of moccasins by Chipewyans, a native people from Alberta, Canada. Archival and museum data and fieldwork is used to compare the design, production, and ornamentation of moccasins made by contemporary Chipewyan women with those produced before the Second World War.
