Addressing the question of how architectural thinking and practices change in light of emergent technologies, this profile also raises the argument that architecture changes only when society experiences fundamental shifts in the basic framework of thought or world view. Has the new science of nonlinear dynamics supplanted the old one? Is it, as is claimed, more attuned to nature than linear mechanics? How far have chaos and complexity theories been accepted as primary explanations?
