Publisher's Synopsis

Jim Cowling is the twin brother of John Cowling. Both are retired Judges. John is in another series FINAL JUDGEMENT. Jim is fair, and attains justice by the letter of the law. John kills all offenders as he deems necessary. Enough about John for now. Jim is also known far and wide by his hobo friends. They call him the Hobo Detective, Jim, and The Judge, as they see fit to do. He is well liked by them. He treats them as equals, and often helps them obtain food, jobs, etc. Case in point. He persuaded them to dog out a small grudge ditch or creek as some may call it. He had them widen the tiny stream by about six feet for some fifty yards. They also dug it out deeper by about five feet. This helped create a breeding pond where they could survive cold winter time temperatures. The fish flourished here where a small woods bordered it on one side, and a large strip of grass land bordered it on the other side. A double lane bridge crossed over the stream. This afforded them shelter when it rained, or snowed, during the winter months. It gave them shade during the summer. They placed fishing line, hooks, and a cooking pot, and a few utensils, there, so whoever happened by could put on a stew, or make a pot of soup. Just across the stream there was a woods which offered them wood to burn and leaves (pine) for their beds. It was not bad being a hobo with a friend like The Judge around. Come join them around their camp fire because I have a feeling there is going to be a mystery to solve!
