Five papers report on recent developments in the excavation and analysis of Early Christian sites, monuments and inscriptions, with an emphasis on Ephesus. Well-illustrated contributions examine burials in Ephesus, inscriptions now housed in Austrian collections, wall paintings from Roman catacombs and epigraphic material. The volume includes a bibliography of Late Antique/Early Christian works published in Austria in 2000 and two obituaries.
