It is summer 1916 and lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt is asked to investigate the disappearance of a young girl, Patience Moffatt, in a quant fishing village called Marling. But the child vanished almost three years ago. Isabel reluctantly agrees, but once in Marling she finds everyone seems to have a secret.
