I was born a gifted child in some respects - though certainly not all! I was eleven years old when the older father I worshipped left me and my mother for another woman. He'd brought me up as a bit of a tomboy with a love of old cars and an aptitude for certain related subjects, and I was hopelessly lost without him. I rarely saw him again until I was midway through my college career; frankly, I blanked him whenever he'd tried to get in touch.
