Morita is the youngest daughter of the famous adventurer Marco Polo. Marco, Morita and their family are swept up in a race to protect Venice from the combined attacks of Genoa, their rival for trade, and the Mamluk King of Egypt, hungry for wealth. The Polos travel from Venetian canals to merchant brigantine ships playing a deadly game of hide and seek, and then back to land to follow the legendary Silk Road when Morita is kidnapped.
