A quartet of classic 1950s British comedies. In 'Time Gentlemen Please' (1952), the town of Hayhoe, England is expecting a visit from the Prime Minister, because of its high productivity and almost 100 per cent employment. The 'almost' is because of Dan Dance (Eddie Byrne), an old rogue who would rather drink and philosophise than work. The Village Council decide to take measures to achieve their perfect record... In 'Miss Robin Hood' (1952), Margaret Rutherford stars as the elderly fan of a writer of adventure novels for young girls. Finally meeting her hero, she proposes a plan to steal the secret whisky formula from the distillery that stole it from her forebearers years before. In 'Brandy For The Parson' (1952), Bill Harper (James Donald) and Petronilla Brand (Jean Lodge) are on a yachting holiday together when they meet Tony Rackham (Kenneth More), who is smuggling brandy from France to a wine merchants in London. Through a series of mishaps and misadventures, Bill and Petronilla find themselves responsible for transporting the brandy kegs to London, whilst being doggedly pursued by officials from Customs and Excise. Finally, in 'You're Only Young Twice' (1952), seeking her long lost uncle (Joseph Tomelty), Ada Shore (Diane Hart) arrives at Skerryvore University to find him working under another name as the Gate Keeper. Ada is mistaken by the Principal, Sir Archibald Asher (Patrick Barr), as his new secretary, so she jumps headlong into the role. When Asher and Ada unexpectedly fall in love, the wrath of the puritanical Professor Hayman (Duncan Macrae) is incurred. The film features an appearance from a young Ronnie Corbett, playing a student.
