Publisher's Synopsis

King Edward's Ring is 'A West African yarn of adventures more or less true', and as such makes compelling reading. It tells a story of romance and adventure as the hero, Richard Wood, undertakes a dangerous quest to recover a sapphire ring once belonging to the ancient family of Riversley. The author retained a lifelong loyalty to Ipswich school where he was a boarder during the years 1884-86. After graduating at Christ's College, Cambridge in 1895 he joined the Colonial Service as Assistant District Commissioner, Southern Nigeria, later to become Political Officer and District Commissioner. King Edward's Ring was the author's only novel, written very much in fellow Ipswichian, Rider Haggard's style, but published privately for no publisher at the time would accept it, in 1908. Now, a new generation of readers may enjoy the lively, fast-moving plot, full of gripping adventure and excitement.
