Inventing Pesellino: Biography, Language and Style In Art History is the M.A. thesis written by Victoria Ann Sheridan for the Master's Degree in Art History at the University of California at Davis in 2003. This thesis was written under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Ruda. This thesis concentrates on the life and works of the Italian Renaissance artist Francesco Pesellino and his biographical coverage in Renaissance and later histories of art. This thesis examines the literature of early authors such as Filarete, Landino and Vasari who describe Pesellino's artistic style and it also concentrates of visual source citations from well know Renaissance imagery. The methodology analyzes artistic style and imitation while examining several of Pesellino's known works of art. Using the life and works of Pesellino as a case study this thesis applies an inquisitive methodology to the concept of value based on artistic style.
